Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

From a young age, Dr. O’Brien knew she wanted a career where she could help people and make a meaningful difference in their lives. Growing up, she had quite a bit of dental work done, and the dentist became a place where she felt comfortable, cared for, and supported. Those experiences have stayed with her and shaped the kind of dentist she wanted to be. Her hope is to give her patients the same feeling of comfort and trust while helping them understand the importance of their oral health. There is something incredible about being able to care for someone, ease their fears, and help them feel good about their smile.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. O’Brien started her college career at the University of Mississippi before going on to graduate from the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine with her DMD. She says her education prepared her to offer all types of services to her patients, including restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, pediatrics, and special needs dentistry. She has also taken continuing education focused on root canal treatment and clear aligner orthodontics.

To stay on top of the latest advancements in dentistry, Dr. O’Brien is a member of the:

  • American Dental Association
  • Mississippi Dental Association
  • American Association for Women Dentists

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Originally from Dallas, Dr. O’Brien met her husband, Gavin, during their freshman year at Ole Miss. Today, they are the proud parents of a daughter, Brianna, and also have two cats. Time away from dentistry is usually dedicated to family, so you’ll often find her cooking, baking, gardening, or taking on home improvement projects.
